Bears Awake: On April 5 at 10:30 a.m., at Carnegie Library join naturalist/educator Dawn Marvin Ward for a hands-on science program on bear facts, stories and creations. This program is designed for families with young children up to third grade, but all are welcome. This program cosponsored by a CFCE grant.
Read with Hazel: School age children are invited to practice their reading by reading to Hazel, a giant registered Reading Education Assistance Dog at the Montague Center Library, on the second and fourth Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. Hazel is a well-trained rescue Newfoundland owned by Alison Berlin. They are a volunteer Pet Partners therapy team. Call the Montague Center Library during open hours to reserve a time, 367-2852.
Millers Falls Library Club: The Millers Falls Library Club is a free after school program that meets on Tuesdays, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. The drop-in sessions are designed for children of all ages. Ruth O’Mara runs the activities, which include stories, arts and crafts, and snacks.
Story Time: Children and their families are invited to come and enjoy stories, crafts, music, activities and snacks with Ruth O’Mara on Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m. at Carnegie Library in Turners Falls. The weekly free series is designed for young children. This is a great time to meet new people, listen to stories, chat and spend a Wednesday morning.
Hands-on Science for Homeschoolers: This program takes place on Wednesdays at 1:15 p.m. at Carnegie Library. Children of all ages and their families explore fun science experiments with Mr. Klaiber.
Music and Movement: This fun series for young children with Tom Carroll and Laurie Davidson meets at the Montague Center Library on Thursdays at 10 a.m., March to June.
Digital Turners Falls Newspaper Archive: The Montague Public Libraries have established an online archive for old Turners Falls newspapers. The Turners Falls Reporter and Herald newspapers from 1872-1942 were recently digitalized.
