Sgt. Rice attends classes

BRISTOL, R.I. — Sgt. David W. Rice of the Greenfield Police Dept. was recognized by the Justice System Training and Research Institute at Rogers Williams University, in partnership with the New England Association of Chiefs of Police, for the successful completion of the “Command Training Series: First Line Supervisor Course,” a two-week comprehensive training program for police supervisory personnel.

Coursework addressed contemporary concepts of management and leadership relevant to the responsibilities of first line supervisors in a modern criminal justice agency. The program, presented by experienced academics and law enforcement practitioners, discussed topics including operational leadership and management principles, problem-solving, organizational and interpersonal communications, labor relations, disciplinary issues and ethical decision-making.

Lisa Ekus wins Gourmand awards

HATFIELD — Lisa Ekus, Founder & President of The Lisa Ekus Group, was awarded the 2012 Outstanding Career awardby the Gourmand World Cookbooks in Paris in February.

In her more than 30 years in the culinary industry, Lisa Ekus has cooked dinner for Julia Child, trained Emeril Lagasse and Padma Lakshmi, secured book deals for more than 150 authors, created culinary partnerships with leading manufacturers such as Lipton, Del Monte, Keebler, General Mills, Kraft, and Williams-Sonoma, and represented numerous restaurants, books, and food companies for public relations.

Ekus is a cookbook collector with over 7,000 volumes in her library. She also works closely with a number of charitable organizations, including The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, PeaceTrees Vietnam, and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Wilcox honored

GREENFIELD — Sharon Wilcox, ABR, GRI, CBR, ASP, has earned Cohn & Company Real Estate’s highest honor of “Top Producer for 2012” with property listings and sales totaling over 6 million dollars in 2012. A member of local, state and national Realtor associations, Wilcox has been recognized by the Realtor Association of Pioneer Valley as an award winning agent every year throughout her 15-year career in real estate.

She continues her real estate education, most recently becoming accredited as a real estate staging professional (ASP). She resides in Shelburne with her husband, Bill.
