On the Job: Metaphor Yarns hires events manager
SHELBURNE FALLS — Metaphor Yarns, has hired Greenfield resident Adelle Ferreira as events manager, to plan and coordinate all special events the shop holds, both in store and off-site.
The first project she will be working on is the store’s fall knitting retreat, which will be held at the Follansbee Inn in North Sutton, N.H., during the last weekend of October, with internationally known knitting instructor Beth Brown-Reinsel as a visiting teacher.
Other events in the works are in shop classes with well known visiting instructors, wine and yarn “tastings” at area restaurants, and a “Shop Hop” with 11 other yarn shops located along the Interstate 91 corridor from Putney, Vt. to Branford, Conn.
Metaphor Yarns began as a sock class held in the Odd Fellows Hall in Shelburne Falls and grew into a retail location after students expressed desire to purchase new yarns. The shape of the business has since become a niche focused on knitting and crocheting kits using the finest yarns and outstanding patterns. Metaphor Yarns, operated by Meta Nisbet, has been at its current location in a 1,500-square-foot building shared with a quilt shop on Route 2 in Shelburne Falls since 2008.
