LEVERETT — Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society is offering half-off cat and kitten adoptions now through Sunday.

Both the Leverett and Springfield adoption centers are hosting the half-off adoption event to promote feline adoptions.

Cats six months old and older can go home for $45, instead of the regular adoption price of $95 and kittens under the age of 6 months will go home for $125 instead of $250.

Every cat and kitten will be spayed or neutered, microchipped, have all of the age-appropriate vaccinations and testing, and will go home with a collar and identification tag. Everyone who adopts a cat or kitten will also receive a starter kit of food.

Candice Lash, spokeswoman for Dakin, said the last few months have been very busy ones for Dakin with the arrival of many animals, especially cats and kittens.

Adoptions fees support Dakin’s work on behalf of animals and people throughout the Pioneer Valley.

Lash said Dakin believes it is important to save lives and is hoping the special event will be an incentive to people who have been or are considering adopting a cat or kitten.

Both centers will be open today from noon to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4:30 p.m.

The Leverett center is located at 163 Montague Road and the one in Springfield is located at 171 Union St.

For more information, call Leverett at 413-548-9898 or Springfield at 413-781-4000. Also visit: www.dpvhs.org.
