No injuries reported in Ashfield truck rollover

ASHFIELD — A truck crash on Cape Street Saturday night hurt no one, but resulted in the arrest of the driver.

Ashfield police arrested Cory M. Dale, 21, of 72 Main St. Shelburne Falls, charging him with drunken driving, driving to endanger and marked lanes violation.

The crash occurred around 10:30 p.m., when the driver of a 2006 Ford pickup apparently lost control and drove the truck into the guardrails, rolling the vehicle onto the passenger side, according to Police Chief Patrick Droney.

Dale, the driver, was apparently unhurt and there were no passengers, Droney said.

The drunken driving charge resulted from the responding officer’s observations, Droney said, including that Dale appeared unsteady on his feet, smelled of alcohol and lost control on a relatively straight road and with no skid marks to indicate he applied the brakes. Droney said he also failed a field sobriety test.
