Northfield man arrested on child rape charges
NORTHFIELD — A local man has been arrested and charged with child rape and other crimes.
William Kaczor, 31, of 91 Main St., apartment 2, pleaded innocent to two counts of aggravated statutory rape of a child, and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 Thursday in Greenfield District Court.
The alleged offenses involved a single female victim, and occurred between June 18 and July 1, when she first told an acquaintance what happened, according to a police report prepared by acting Chief Robert Leighton.
The victim said she was watching TV with the accused at his apartment, when he first put his arm around her, and, after both of them removed their clothes, he went on to kiss her neck, mouth, and other parts of her body, according to the report.
The victim said that he also made her perform oral sex on him.
The allegations were first made to Northfield Police on July 2, and Leighton set up an interview at the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, which was conducted Tuesday. Northfield police brought Kaczor in for questioning Wednesday morning.
Leighton wrote that Kaczor told him he knew why police wanted to speak to him.
“He agreed that (the victim) was a good kid and told the truth,” wrote Leighton. “He stated there was no reason that she would say something about him that was not true.”
Afterward, when police told him of the specifics of the allegations, the suspect initially denied accusations, but later admitted to it, wrote Leighton. According to the report, the suspect also admitted to having oral sex with the underage victim.
Kaczor was held on $5,000 cash bail or $50,000 surety, and is due back in court July 19 for a pretrial conference.
