No injuries in Sunderland house fire Saturday
SUNDERLAND — An early morning blaze brought firefighters from five towns to 313 Amherst Road on Saturday, where fire damaged a home next to Dunkin’ Donuts.
Sunderland Fire Chief Robert Ahearn said the two-story wood rental property was unoccupied and no one was hurt.
Report of the fire came in shortly after midnight. Greenfield firefighters were called for mutual aid at 12:22 a.m.
“It’s probably salvageable but it’ll need quite a bit of work,” Ahearn said of the building. “It did have a pretty good start on us; it had been going for quite some time.”
Ahearn said the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s office, and no cause had yet been found Sunday evening.
