GHS Student Council hosting zumba/basketball fundraiser tonight for faculty member with leukemia

The Greenfield High School Student Council is hosting a Zumbathon/basketball event tonight to benefit a faculty member with leukemia. The event starts at 6 p.m. and is open to the public and costs $5 to either participate in Zumba dancing in the cafeteria or a basketball “knockout” tournament in the gym.

All proceeds will go to Jessica Delgado and her family. Delgado, a GHS alumna herself, works in the school’s Poet Seat therapeutic day program.

“As a council we were trying to brainstorm some ideas of fundraisers for Jess,” said faculty adviser Angela Mass. “This event is certainly open to the public and we would love to have a huge turnout to support Jess.”

Zumba is a dance fitness program that is open for all ages and abilities.

In the basketball “knockout” game, players stand in a line and take turns at the free throw line. The goal of the game is to make a shot before the person in front, thus knocking them out.
