Conway has 17 admin. applicants
CONWAY — The committee charged with selecting the new town administrator will interview candidates at a public meeting next week. On Thursday, the preliminary screening committee will decide which of 17 applicants it will choose to meet with the full screening committee. The meeting date will be determined.
The screening committee is made up of the Selectboard, Personnel Committee Chairwoman Heather Rose, Town Treasurer Jan Warner and Finance Committee member Andrea Llamas, who is also the Buckland town administrator.
The position opened up in January when Ed MacDonald resigned from the 37.5 hours-a-week, $52,000-a-year job after only 47 days.
New Salem Democrats to caucus
NEW SALEM — New Salem Democrats will hold a town caucus on Saturday in the Stowell Building to pick a delegate to the upcoming state party convention.
The Democratic convention this year will be held at UMass-Lowell on July 13. Convention delegates will hear from future party leaders and vote to ratify the new platform.
Democrats in New Salem will elect one delegate to the convention and one alternate. All registered Democrats in New Salem are eligible to participate.

NEW SALEM — Nomination papers for the May 6 annual town election are available through March 15.
The following three-year positions are up for election: one Selectboard seat, one seat on the Board of Health, town clerk, moderator, assessor, one vacant Planning Board seat, a seat on the School Committee, and a seat on the Board of Library Trustees.
A five-year seat and a vacant two-year position on the Planning Board are also up for election.
Nominees must obtain at least 20 signatures of registered New Salem voters to be an official candidate.
Papers must be submitted to the registrar of voters for certification by March 18, and filed with the town clerk by April 1. The last day to register to vote in the town election is April 16.
