Lipton Mart robbery attempt unsuccessful
GREENFIELD — The would-be robber of the Lipton Mart made off with nothing Sunday, according to police.
Monday Greenfield police were still looking for the woman who allegedly attempted to rob the Lipton Mart convenience store Sunday afternoon.
The woman told clerks she had a gun but did not show one, according to police, and left without any money when more customers entered the store.
Lt. Dan McCarthy said police are following up on several leads from the 2:16 p.m. robbery, but have made no arrests.
A witness followed the woman from the shop at 100 Mohawk Trail, attached to the Shell gas station, and a person matching her description was seen on Laurel Street and a state police dog picked up a trail in the area.
The woman is described as white, of medium build, age 30 to 40 with dark, curly hair and wearing black pants, a black zip-up hooded sweatshirt, a white T-shirt with black lettering, white sneakers and carrying a black purse at the time.
Police ask that anyone with information call the department at 413-773-5411.
