Conway has $337,000 available for CPA projects

CONWAY — The town Community Preservation Committee has $337,000 available this year for open space and recreation projects, historical preservation, and community housing.

The committee requests residents and groups to develop proposals for the committee to consider. The deadline for proposals to be considered by May’s town meeting is March 1.

Since 2006, the CPA money has been instrumental in helping to get town projects under way. In those six years, Conway residents have approved 11 CPA projects, which total $356,982.

Last year, residents approved $123,000 for repairs to the Conway Swimming Pool and $100,000 for repairs to the historic United Congregational Church.

The funds comes from the Community Preservation Fund, which is supported by a surcharge on local property taxes that can be used for recreation, housing and historic preservation projects.

Committee set to meet today

The committee has meetings scheduled for today, Jan. 7, Feb. 4, March 4 and April 1 at 3:30 p.m. at Town Hall.
