GCC to hold open house Thursday
GREENFIELD — In an effort to connect with potential “adult learners” — students who have been out of high school for at least a few years — Greenfield Community College will host an open house on campus Thursday night.
The event is for adults who were not able to attend an open house last month or who may have specific questions they want addressed, said Colleen Kucinski, director of admissions.
“Adult learners ... have different support systems in place or not in place,” said Kucinski. “We wanted to be able to devote some time to their particular questions and concerns in a way that felt comfortable to them.”
Check-in begins at 5:45 p.m. in the main lobby, although optional campus tours will be offered at 5 p.m.
At 6 p.m., there will be a half-hour admission and financial aid information session in the dining commons.
Then, at 6:30 p.m., there will be three “breakout sessions” for potential students. One is targeted at veterans, another at students who may have learning disabilities and a third is focused on finding a successful balance between life and school.
And then at 7 p.m., there will be a “support services information fair” — a way to show students all the resources that are available to them, said Kucinski.
To pre-register, call 413-775-1801 or email email@example.com. Registration can also occur at the event, said Kuckinski.
