Leverett teen improving, Deerfield teen charged

DEERFIELD — The driver faces charges and the most seriously injured passenger is recovering following the rollover that sent three teens to the hospital this week, according to Deerfield Police Chief John Paciorek Jr.

Paciorek said Thursday he had spoken to hospital employees and a 17-year-old Leverett boy who was ejected during the crash seems to be doing better and is up and walking.

Following the crash Monday, he was taken by LifeFlight to UMass Memorial Medical Center where he was listed in serious condition the following day.

The driver and another passenger, both 16 and from Deerfield, were treated and released from Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield within hours of the 4 p.m. accident according to Paciorek.

Paciorek said the driver has been summoned to Franklin/Hampshire Juvenile Court to face charges of operating to endanger, failure to stay on the proper side of the road, speeding and violation of the junior operator passenger restrictions.
