Police arrest man walking under French King Bridge
ERVING — Police arrested a man around 2:30 p.m. Sunday after he was spotted walking under the French King Bridge, causing several area rescue teams to respond.
Erving Police would not comment, stating the case is still under investigation.
At about 2:25 p.m., Erving Police responded to the area where a white male was walking under the bridge. Police later arrested the man.
State police closed off Route 2 during the investigation. The Northfield Dive Team, Gill Police and Turners Falls Police were also called to the scene.
Over the years, a number of people have committed suicide by jumping off the French King Bridge.
