FRTA adds bus route to temporary courthouse on Munson Street
GREENFIELD — Franklin Regional Transit Authority has expanded its service to include a shuttle to the Corporate Center on Munson Street for the duration of the courthouse renovation project.
The shuttle will also stop at the Greenfield Park & Ride in the parking lot of the Registry of Motor Vehicles behind Applebee’s on Miner Street off the Mohawk Trail.
According to FRTA Administrator Tina Cote, there will be five shuttles a day to the park and ride and the Corporate Center, home of the temporary courthouse, while the $60 million courthouse renovation on Hope Street goes on, for at least three years.
Cote said along with FRTA’s Route 21, there will be plenty of access — 13 times each weekday — to the courthouse, Department of Transitional Assistance, Department of Children and Families and the VA Outpatient Clinic, all on Munson Street.
$1 per trip
The fare to the Corporate Center from the regional bus station on Olive Street or the park and ride is $1 per trip. Transfers will be accepted, said Cote.
Buses will run those routes between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
“This satisfies our riders and the concerns expressed by Mayor William Martin,” said Cote.
The schedule for the Corporate Center and Route 21 shuttles is as follows:
∎ Route 21 will leave the John W. Olver Regional Transit Center on Olive Street for the Corporate Center each day, Monday through Friday, at 7 a.m., 8:45 a.m., 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:15 p.m., 2:25 p.m., 4:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
∎ The Corporate Shuttle will leave the John W. Olver Regional Transit Center on Olive Street for the Greenfield Park & Ride at 8 a.m., 10:40 a.m., noon, 12:50 p.m., 12:55 p.m. and 3:25 p.m. The shuttle will arrive at the Park and Ride about five minutes after it departs.
