Teen, 15, hospitalized after admitting to heroin use
Found in Greenfield hotel room with other teen, adult, still under investigation
GREENFIELD — A 15-year-old Greenfield girl was taken to the Baystate Franklin Medical Center Saturday night, after she admitted to using heroin in a hotel room, where a 15-year-old Deerfield boy and his father were present, according to police.
Police also found beer, liquor and items linked to heroin use in the room. The weekend report was incomplete, and the incident is still under investigation, according to Greenfield Police Lt. Daniel McCarthy. He said no one has been charged with illegal offenses at this time.
The names of the parties involved were not given by police.
According to the police, the girl’s mother called police around 9:30 Saturday night, asking them to check on her daughter, whom she believed was using heroin with others.
She reported that her daughter’s verbal responses were very delayed, and she appeared to be high, police said.
Police checked a room at the Quality Inn, where they found the teenagers and the boy’s father.
According to the report, the girl showed signs of heroin use and said she had taken heroin within the past hour. Items often used to heat and use heroin — bottle caps and cotton swabs — were also found, along with beer and liquor. The girl was taken to the hospital, at her mother’s request, and the boy was taken home to his mother, in Deerfield.
The adult in the room “gave sketchy and conflicting stories,” says the police log. The officers left the room after the youths were removed.
