Making guns illegal isn’t a quick fix

Monday, March 05, 2018

I’m writing this letter following the tragic events that happened in Florida. I think it’s safe to say everyone in this country has had enough with kids killing kids. Is anyone in this country concerned with why kids are killing kids?

What has happened to America’s youth, that they are so unhappy that they have to lash out and kill each other? Killing innocent individuals who are defenseless against such evil. Schools are “safe places” where guns aren’t allowed, right?

If someone is hell-bent on causing such pain, do you really think imposing new, stricter laws is going to stop a criminal? By definition, criminals do not obey laws.

If one believes such nonsense, to combat the heroin epidemic, all we have to do is make heroin illegal, correct? If we ban all heroin that will make the problem go away, right? Oh, wait, heroin is illegal, but the problem still persists. Just making something illegal doesn’t make the problem go away.

Please, let’s stop promoting gun violence on television, in the movies and in video games, and start using our heads to come up with a solution to this epidemic.
