Vight — 65th
COLRAIN — Lloyd and Gerry Vight of 24 Kings Bluff celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Oct. 6 at their daughter and son-in-law’s home. They have two children, Ron Vight and Deb Gilbert, both of Colrain; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Lloyd and the former Gerry Garland were married on Oct. 16, 1948 at the Seventh Day Advent Church in Buckland.
Lloyd and Gerry renewed their wedding vows in front of many family and friends. They arrived in a horseless carriage built by Lloyd after he saw a picture on the cover of a calendar and said to himself, “I can build that,” and he did.
Lloyd and Gerry met each other while working in the former Kendall Mills in Griswoldville, where he worked as an electrician for 43 years. Gerry worked as a machine operator for 32 years, both retired from the mill. Lloyd also repaired TVs and radios for 35 years before retiring from his business.
Lloyd enjoys ham radios, anything electronic and being outdoors puttering. Gerry has always enjoyed taking pictures, gardening, being outdoors, and their little dog, Winston, the third.
