Lefty’s events on tap
Below is a sampling of the events Lefty’s has brewing in and around Franklin County this fall. For full listings, go to Lefty’s Facebook page, at goo.gl/WJtlo1.
Every Saturday, from 2 to 4 p.m., you can come to 301 Wells St., see the brewery, talk to the owners and sample a brew or two. Though the tours are ongoing, other events will come and go.
Today: Holyoke Canoe Club Brew Fest, noon to 10. Lefty’s joins more than 20 other brewers at the club, Old Ferry Road in Holyoke. $40 for drinkers, $10 for designated drivers.
Today: Hilltown Brew Fest, noon to 5, Lefty’s will debut its News Salem General Store-exclusive Tennessee Whiskey Barrel-Aged Scotch Ale, alongside about 30 other makers of beer, wine and mead, at 837 Daniel Shays Highway, New Salem. There will also be food and live music. $22.
Sept. 13: Lefty’s tasting and glass giveaway: 6 p.m. Spirit Haus, 338 College Drive, Amherst.
Sept. 14: Lefty’s Fest: 3:30 to 11 p.m. at Kiwanis Park in Bernardston. “Beer-lympics” games at 4:30 (register from 3:30 to 4:15), music from Ruby’s Complaint and Scott Kusmeskus, food, dancing, raffles, prizes and more, plus the debut of two new brews, Lefty’s Honey Brown Ale and Oktoberfest. All pints $3. Tickets $3 advance, $5 door.
Sept. 20: Lefty’s tasting and glass giveaway, 4 p.m. Stan’s Liquors, 1586 South Main St., Athol.
Oct. 4: Lefty’s beer tasting, 5 p.m. Catch Lefty’s and meet Archie the English mastiff, who graces the label of Lefty’s Imperial Porter and regularly greets customers at Happy Trails Liquors, 1105 Mohawk Trail, Shelburne.
Oct. 12 & 13: Riverside Blues and Barbecue Festival, noon to 6, Greenfield’s Beacon Field. Barbecue teams will compete in cook-offs, blues bands will take to the stage and Lefty’s and several other brewers will serve samples in the “Samplin’ Saloon” from 1 to 5. $5 for festival admission, $5 for barbecue samples, and $20 for all the beer samples you can responsibly handle.
Oct. 19: Franklin County Pumpkinfest. Lefty’s and other area brewers pour pints in the beer garden during the annual festival in downtown Turners Falls.
Nov. 2: Hager’s Pumpkin Smash. Enjoy Lefty’s libations as you prepare to smash pumpkins on the Hagers’ homemade catapult at their farm market at 1232 Mohawk Trail, Shelburne. Further details are still in the works.
