Museum marks anniversary with free admission, special events
The Whitaker-Clary house, Prescott Church museum, and carriage shed, all at 40 Elm St., off Route 202 in North New Salem, will be open Sundays and Wednesdays, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., from Sunday, June 30, through Sept. 29,
To honor the 75th anniversary of the dissolution of the four Swift River Valley towns, the museum buildings will be open free of charge this summer. Donations are accepted. Genealogy research available most Wednesdays and Sundays through Sept. 29, and by appointment year-round. Call 978-544-6882 to confirm or make an appointment.

∎ June 16, Sunday, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. — Opening Day, all buildings open to the public
∎ June 16, Sunday, 2 p.m. — Quilt Talk. Historian and scholar, Lynne Bassett, will talk about Swift River Valley Historical Society quilts at Prescott Church Museum. Space is limited, registration, advised. $10 fee includes talk, tour of the quilt show by Bassett, one-year membership in the SRVHS and refreshments. Call 978-249-7321.
∎ July 14, Sunday, 3 p.m. — Dana Vespers at Prescott Church Museum. Cake and lemonade served after the concert to celebrate Mrs. Clary’s 174th birthday.
∎ July 28, Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. — Ice Cream Social on the Swift River Historical Society grounds. Bring picnic lunches, enjoy ice cream and toppings. Free!

∎ Sept. 29, Sunday, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. — Commemorative Service at Prescott Church Museum with Rev. Phyllis Hamilton Frechette at 4 p.m., followed by a hymn-sing with Janet Kraft and Jack Arnot. Refreshments to follow.
