Garden Club awards $2,305 in grants

GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Garden Club has announced the winners of its 2014 Grant Program.

Here are this year’s winners:

∎ Mohawk Regional School; Shelburne Falls; “Seeds of Change.”

∎ Leverett Elementary School Greenhouse Program.

∎ Shutesbury Elementary School Community Garden.

∎ Eighth Grade Academy at Greenfield High School; “The Omnivore’s Dilemma/Local Food Study.”

∎ Gill Elementary School’s Edible Gardening Program.

∎ The Rejuvenators in conjunction with the Discovery School at Four Corners; “Beautify Greenfield.”

∎ Conway Grammar School “Kinder-Gardeners.”

∎ Colrain Central School; “Schoolyard Restoration.”

∎ Wheeler Memorial Library; Orange, MA; “Story Hour Garden.”

∎ Greenfield Recreation Department Planting Project.

∎ Heath School; “Certified Monarch Waystation.”

∎ Pearl Rhodes School; Leyden; “Learning About the Birds and the ‘Beets.’”

All twelve grants were fully funded this year. The club gave out a total of $2,305.

These grants are offered to any teacher, school, or organization that works with children in any of the towns in Franklin County.

The club says it looks for projects that involve gardening, plant science, ecology, or any related subject matter.
