Unity Park hill off-limits for sledding
TURNERS FALLS — The Unity Park hill, a popular winter destination with the younger set, is closed to sled traffic this year.
The Board of Selectmen announced the ban at the request of the Montague parks and recreation director.
“I guess they would just as soon you didn’t go zipping down the hill and then splat against the fence,” said Selectman Mark Fairbrother.
The closure is a temporary move due to the presence of the construction fence protecting the newly seeded ball fields at the base of the hill. The fence should come down before the next sledding season.
