Bulletin Board: Rain slows down area hunters on 4th day

A rainy day held local numbers down on Day 4 of the 2013 Massachusetts shotgun deer hunting season as just 14 deer were checked into the two stations that reported on Thursday.

Oral Jackson from Rowe shot the day’s biggest buck with a 160-pound, eight-pointer that was one of nine deer checked into Gould’s Sugarhouse in Shelburne. Charlemont’s Jason Peters also had a good day on Thursday, as he checked his first-ever buck with a 10-point, 144-pounder. That was the first 10-pointer of the season. Conway’s Ralph Osgood tagged his second buck of the season, following up a 126-pound, three-pointer that he checked on Tuesday, with a 136-pound, nine-pointer.

Grrr Gear in Orange reported five deer on the day, including a 152-pound, eight-point buck shot by Matthew Cislo from Crownsville, Md.
