Bulletin Board:Turkey raffles for Turners, Frontier
The Turners Falls High School football team will hold its annual Turkey Raffle on Saturday from 6-10 at St. Stanislaus Society in Turners Falls.
Besides raffling off 20 turkeys, the event will also have other prizes on hand to raffle, including a women’s Jacoby Ellsbury Boston Red Sox jersey, a lottery tree, and other prizes. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds go to benefit the football program at Turners Falls.
Frontier Turkey raffle
The Frontier Regional School football team will hold its annual Turkey Raffle at the Polish American Citizens Club in South Deerfield on Saturday night beginning at 6.
Prizes include turkeys, bottles of cheer, gift certificates and more. All proceeds go to benefit the football program at Frontier.
Worcester State University senior forward Dane Jobst was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week following his performance at the Eastern Connecticut Tip-Off Tournament over the past weekend.
The Athol native and former Mahar Regional School player averaged 23 points and 15.5 rebounds during two games for the Lancers at the tournament.
Ben Freeman scored one minute into the third period to snap a tie and Northfield Mount Hermon School earned a 2-1 in over Stanstead (Quebec, Canada) College at McCollum Arena in Gill on Wednesday.
Bradley Allen scored on assists from Freeman and Corey Moriarty with a power play goal in the second period, but Stanstead tied the game with a minute left in the second.
Conor O’Brien made 18 saves in net for the Hoggers, who improved to 2-1 on the season.
Phillips Exeter Academy erased a two-point halftime deficit to defeat NMH, 68-60 in the Hoggers’ girls’ prep basketball season-opener Wednesday in Exeter, N.H.
Sophomore Vanessa Udoji and senior Ruthann Zientek led NMH with 14 points apiece, while Tayler White chipped in 10 points, and Sophie Gomarlo added 8.
