Colrain woman recovering after Sunday morning accident

COLRAIN — The driver of a car that struck a tree Sunday morning on Van Nuys Road was recovering in the hospital Monday evening.

Roger Williams of the Colrain Police Department said a 70-year-old woman, the driver and sole occupant, suffered nonlife-threatening injuries after failing to negotiate a corner around 7:58 a.m. and was transported to the hospital by Colrain ambulance.

Baystate Medical Center in Springfield reported Ann Stanforth of Van Nuys Road in fair condition Monday evening.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
