Cornucopia auction set for Saturday in Shelburne
CHARLEMONT — At least 150 items, from farm products to fine arts and crafts, are up for bid during the 10th annual Academy at Charlemont’s Cornucopia Auction, to be held Saturday at the Shelburne Buckland Community Center on Main Street, Shelburne Falls.
This event is the primary fundraiser for the private school and its classical academic education programs. Most of the school’s 112 students in Grades 7 through 12 receive need-based financial aid, which is primarily raised by this auction.
Donated auction items range from a full set of winter snow tires, 4 to 6 hours worth of services from a school parent/carpenter, theater and concert tickets, restaurant gift certificates, a baseball autographed by Robert Downey Jr., a cheese-making kit with ingredients, a Tibetan medicine consultation, and handmade jewelry, paintings, gift baskets and hand-dyed yarns.
Auction items may be previewed at 5 p.m. while a silent auction takes place from 5 to 7 p.m., with live music by Karen Axelrod and MaryLea. Also, there will be appetizers, locally made cheeses, wines, brews and ciders.
The live auction is from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $20.
