Thacker attains rank of Eagle Scout
GREENFIELD — Alexander G. Thacker, 18, a recent graduate of the Four Rivers Charter Public School, has been awarded the rank of Eagle by the Boys Scouts of America. The son of Douglas and Heidi Thacker of South Deerfield, he was a member of Troop 356 in Wells, Maine and Troop 5 in Greenfield.
The Eagle rank is the highest rank that can be achieved in Scouting, and is achieved by less than 5 percent of boys who enter Scouting. Thacker is the 35th Scout to achieve Eagle in Troop 5’s 85-year history.
To achieve the distinction, he completed 224 merit badges and held leadership positions in his troop over the past four years. In addition, for his Eagle Scout service project, he led a team of Scouts, friends and family to construct two high quality red cedar benches to benefit his high school. He raised about $700 in cash and material donations to make this project a reality.
Thacker is attending Greenfield Community College, where he plans to study computers.
