Montague Cultural Council seeks proposals

Deadline for submissions set for Oct. 15

TURNERS FALLS — The Montague Cultural Council has set an Oct. 15 postmark deadline for organizations, schools and individuals to apply for grants to support cultural activities in the community.

Grants can support a variety of artistic projects and activities in any of Montague’s five villages (Lake Pleasant, Montague City, Millers Falls, Montague Center, and Turners Falls), including exhibits, festivals, field trips, short-term artist residencies or performances in schools, workshops and lectures.

The state Legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community.

This year, the Montague Cultural Council will distribute about $4,250 in grants for 2014 programs.

For specific guidelines and complete information on the Montague Cultural Council, including membership opportunities, contact chairman George-Moonlight Davis at 413-422-1010 or Application forms and more information about the Local Cultural Council Program are available online at

Application forms on paper are also available at the Carnegie Library, the Montague Center Library, the Millers Falls Library and the Montague Town Hall, 1 Avenue A.
