Transition Northfield picnic today

NORTHFIELD — Local fare and local folk make the Transition Northfield Community Picnic today a one-of-a-kind event.

From noon to 2 p.m., Kiwanis Park on School Street will host the third-annual picnic. There will be live music by the ROMEOS (Retired Old Men Entertaining Others), games to play, and food.

A ticket will include a beef or veggie burger or hot dog, grilled corn on the cob, garden salad, chips and a drink. At 1:30, everyone will get free ice cream and watermelon, courtesy of the Dickinson Memorial Library’s summer reading program.

Anyone from Northfield is welcome to attend. The picnic is sponsored by Transition Northfield, Northfield Kiwanis, Friends of the Library, the Northfield Historical Society and Lane Construction Co.

Tickets are available at the park for $7.
