Wormtown offers more grants
GREENFIELD — Wormtown Trading, the company that puts on two weekend music festivals at Camp Keewanee each year, has decided to award four $1,000 and one $2,500 grant to local organizations or individuals that are doing community service projects this summer.
Mark Blanchette, owner of the company, said Greenfield has been host to Wormtown’s music and camping festivals since 2003.
“As the shows have grown in size, so has our relationship with the City of Greenfield,” said Blanchette. “We know there are some good people and organizations helping this community from the last time we did this, so we want to support some of their work as a way of saying ‘thank you’ to this community.”
In 2010, Wormtown awarded five $1,000 grants to local organizations and individuals.
Blanchette said Wormtown will choose from letters it is asking be submitted by interested organizations and individuals.
He said to qualify, the organization or individual should be located in or near Greenfield and serve the Greenfield community.
Interested applicants should send a letter describing their work in the community and how the grant might help in the mission.
Wormtown Music Festival is held each year on Memorial Day weekend and the third weekend in September.
Letters, which must be received by Aug. 9, may be mailed to: Wormtown Trading Co., P.O. Box 659, Woodstock, CT 06281.
Winners will be notified before this year’s fall Wormtown Music Festival on Sept. 13 through 15.
