Feline friends, $5
Today only at Leverett, Springfield adoption centers
LEVERETT — Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society is offering “$5 Felines!” today in its Leverett and Springfield adoption centers.
Cats 6 months and older will be able to go home with their new families for $5.
Dakin spokeswoman Candice Lash said it is summer and Dakin has many cats in need of new homes.
“What’s better than adopting a four-legged feline family member to love?” said Lash.
She said the price includes a cat that has already been spayed or neutered, is microchipped, and has received all age-appropriate vaccinations and testings.
Adopted cats will also go home with a collar and identification tag, as well as a starter kit of food .
“Dakin is committeed to finding good homes and saving lives,” said Executive Director Leslie Harris. “Homeless adult cats have the greatest need for loving homes, especially at this time of year. While every animal welfare organization depends on adoption fees to support the work they do for animals and people in their communities, it is also important to save lives.”
Harris said the $5 Felines! event tends to motivate people who might be considering adoption to go to Dakin and add to their families.
Dakin also accepts donations of dry and canned cat food for its Pet Food Pantry, and cash to help offset funding lost through special events like the $5 Felines!
Dakin will be open today from noon to 4:30 p.m.
