Hi 25° | Lo 2°

Letter: Season to remember

I would like to personally congratulate the Greenfield High School baseball team for a fabulous season. The games I was fortunate to attend were intense, competitive, well-played and exciting from the first pitch to the last. It was very apparent to me that you all understood the concept of “team” and your post season success was well deserved. Contrary to the coverage in this newspaper you were not “sent packing” in your season ender with Auburn, in fact, you beat them in all statistical categories except the final score. That game was a close contest that could have gone either way and you should be proud of your performance.

Success in high school athletics is measured in many ways and I would like to thank the players and coaches of the Green Wave baseball for their consistent demonstration of good sportsmanship and class. Throughout the year, your graciousness in victory as well as defeat was very impressive. Your mature attitude and actions reflected very positively on your parents, your coaches, your school and the entire City of Greenfield. Individually, and as a team you have forevermore raised the bar and redefined what it takes to be called western Massachusetts champions!

Godspeed in your future endeavors!
