Deerfield pig farm hearing delayed
DEERFIELD — The hearing to set the rules for a Stillwater Road pig farm has been pushed off at the request of the farmer.
The new date for Stanley Romanowski, of 97 Stillwater Road, to go before the Board of Health for a renewal of an annual permit of his 40-year-old family business is July 3.
The hearing was originally scheduled for Wednesday.
Romanowski’s lawyer made the date change request on behalf of his client.
Romanowki’s piggery has had several run-ins with the town and his neighbors, the Meadows of Deerfield, who have complained of loose pigs in the streets.
The hearing is an annual review of Romanowski’s permit.
The town sets rules for Romanowski to follow to keep running his 30-acre farm with its 80 adult pigs through what is called a site assignment.
