Manny’s drops TCL opener
Easthampton Savings Bank broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly from Connor Quinn to edge Manny’s TV & Appliance, 4-3, in the Tri-County League baseball season-opener for both teams Friday night at Daley Field in Easthampton.
The Bankers went on top 3-0 in the second inning but Manny’s fought back to tie the game with one run in the fifth and two in the sixth. Kyle Henry finished with two hits and one RBI for Manny’s, Jeremiah Bayer hit a sac fly to drive in a run, and Troy Scott doubled.
Jeff Dixon was the tough-luck loser, allowing just two hits and two walks in six innings, striking out two. Kyle Bartlett struck out five and walked four in six innings to earn the win.
Greenfield Grille needed eight innings to beat Rooster’s Tavern, 10-9,in a Greenfield Co-Rec Softball League game Friday night at Greenfield High School.
Ben Burt led the Grille with four hits and four RBI, Ben McDonough added three hits and two RBIs, and Mary Hine contributed a pari of hits.
Tim Lapean had three hits and two RBIs, and Frank Stumpo chipped in three hits and one RBI for Rooster’s.
At Hillside Park, Andrew Russo went 4-for-4 and hit for the cycle as Keewanee All-Stars edged Red Door, 10-6.
Santo Arce was 4-for-4 with two doubles for the winners.
Eric Boliski was 3-for-3 and Donna Tanner added three hits for Red Door.
Also, Victoria Bar cruised to a five-inning, 19-3 win over People’s Pint at Greenfield Middle School.
Mike Cormie and Mariah Crossman both went 4-for-4, Justin Simpson was 3-for-3 and Zariah Crossman added three hits for the Vic.
Mike Legassey homered for the Pint.
Finally, Uriah Bartlett went 6-for-6 with three doubles and a triple as Mowry & Schmidt cruised to a five-inning, 27-2 verdict over Wilkinson Innovative.
Steve Smith went 5-for-5 with three doubles, Chris Sadler was 4-for-5 two doubles and Dan Abrahamson singled and tripled twice for Mowry & Schmidt.
Brett Barrett (double) and Steve Billiel had two hits apiece for Wilkinson.
CFC Men’s League
The Crumpin-Fox Men’s Golf League held a Black Tees on Odd, Gold Tees on Even tournament in Thursday in Bernardston.
Chris Austin, Erik Barnes and Mike Griffin all tied for low gross at 39, while Bill Young carded a 34 for low net.
Bob Martin was closes to the pin on No. 3 (12 feet, 1 inch) and Chris Dezynski was closest on No. 9 (5-9).
