Letter: Tick infested areas
The general public has been educated about the dangers and health risks associated with infectious tick bites to humans and prescribed medications like Doxycycline Hyclate to combat such illnesses as “Lyme Disease” and other diseases transmitted from ticks.
Prevention is the key to avoiding the potentially debilitating effects these tick-borne diseases may impose on us. Children often like to run through the tall grassy areas in search of wildflowers or perhaps looking for toads and turtles near swamps and brooks that often border a farmer’s field. Tall grass and moist underbrush are the preferred habitat for tick infestations.
Warning signs posted in such areas would alert the general public to these problematic spots. It is also the duty of adults to discourage youngsters from entering areas with the likelihood of high concentration of ticks.
