Letter: Thank you everyone
With regard to the recent election in Hawley, in which I ran as a write-in candidate for selectman, I would like to take a moment to express my thanks to everyone who supported me, whether that meant coming out to vote, holding a sign, or calling their friends. You all did a great job.
In hindsight, I would not have done things any differently, even if I had known how many votes Mr. Keenan was going to get. I would have run anyway, because I believe it is important to make it clear that there are many people in this town who are very dissatisfied with the way things are being done around here. Their message got through yesterday through the ballots they cast.
I would also imagine that there are quite a few people who have not yet had the opportunity to find out about the extent of the impropriety now occurring in the town office, or of the egregious violation of the public’s trust by certain town officials.
Mr. Keenan and his friends need to understand that we are not going to just pack up our bags and go home. We are here for the duration and we are going to stay here and keep running campaigns until we get a town government that actually represents the taxpayers; a government that is fair, that is honest, and that conducts its business in accordance with the law.
