Letter: Stop Mahar bullying!
Students at Mahar Regional School are being harassed for exercising their First Amendment rights under the U.S. Constitution. The administration at Mahar suspended their teacher, Mr. Magee, for 24 days for exercising his freedom of speech in opposing the superintendent, Mr. Baldessarre, on the regionalization of schools in Orange.
Mike Magee can take care of himself. High school students should NOT have to undergo similar bullying when they do not agree with their administration on issues. The students’ “Free Magee” campaign is a wonderful expression of First Amendment rights. Yet, those same students are being called to “the office,” reprimanded and threatened.
STOP THE BULLYING NOW!
Please attend the Mahar School Committee meeting on Monday, May 13 at 7 p.m. in the school library.
