Letter: What price security?
Need I remind you, Mr. Blagg, after your editorial putting forth the idea that we should learn to accept tighter security for our own safety, of what one of our founding fathers had to say about it?
“Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” — Benjamin Franklin
So, if you want to spend your life in a secured cage, Mr. Blagg, that is fine, but I chose to be free. To walk free, talk free, live free and freely associate with whom every I chose.
If we do as you suggest and accept tighter security, where does it end?
Free people live free and accept all the risk associated with it.
If you want to be safe every moment, Mr. Blagg, then you should avoid the risks of freedom.
Go ahead, Mr. Blagg, let those who would carry out horrific acts of violence against us, win, by accepting the tightening of our own freedoms. If that is the case then we have a hard reality to face, they are already on their way to victory.
