Hawley keeps Keenan on Board of Selectmen
HAWLEY — Despite a late write-in campaign for selectman, Hawley voters gave another show of support for Philip C. Keenan by returning him to office Tuesday night. He was re-elected by 95 votes. His challenger, Hussain Hamdan, who started a write-in campaign for selectman, received 48 write-in votes.
According to Town Clerk Pamela Shrimpton, 149 out of 255 registered voters came out for the election — a total of 58 percent voter turnout.
Thewre were no other contests. Re-elected to another term were: Assessor Jason A. Velazquez, Tree Warden (one-year term) Richard Gould, and Hawlemont Local Education Council member Suzanne S. Crawford.
Through write-in votes, incumbent Auditor Kirby “Lark” Thwing was re-elected to a one-year term as auditor and to a one-year term as town moderator.
