Selectman’s race  on Colrain’s ballot

Veteran Scranton won’t run again

COLRAIN — After 40 years on the Board of Selectmen, Duane L. Scranton will be stepping down after this year’s annual town election, on April 30.

But two other town officials are running for that position: Jack Cavolick and Michael Friedlander.

Both candidates are currently on the Board of Health. In addition, Friedlander is a town constable, and is running for re-election to that position.

Cavolick is the town’s emergency management director and also serves as animal inspector and control officer for Colrain and for other West County towns.

All others who filed nomination papers for elected town posts are running for re-election. All are for three-year terms:

Board of Assessors Nick Anzuoni, Town Clerk Robin Hartnett, Library Trustee Michelle Hellman, and Mohawk Trail Regional School Committee member Nina Martin-Anzuoni.

April 10 is the last day to register to vote, if you wish to vote in the town’s annual election and the state primary.
