Letter: Ban dirty air

Dirty Air? Did you ever accidentally let the spatula’s handle touch the stove’s heating element? Phew, the toxic smell of plastic burning. Do you want to avoid similar toxins going into our air? We might not be able to smell all those toxins but why add to Pioneer Valley air quality that experts tell us is already poor? Truth is, 90 percent of our trash could be burned unless we have a ban on the so-called new methods of incineration (they’re literally 19th century). We need a zoning bylaw change for Greenfield to place a moratorium on large biomass burners for at least 18 months. This would give the town time to come up with appropriate rules. Come to the March 7 meeting, 7 p.m. at the Department of Planning & Development, 114 Main St. Let your voice be heard to support banning dirty air.
