School Committee approves budget

SUNDERLAND — The Sunderland School Committee unanimously approved the 1.68 percent increase in the school budget for next year.

The school budget is $2,085,732 compared to this year’s $2,051,286. It is a $34,446 increase.

The major change is the increase in the schools’ share of the cost of a full-time technology director, who would also work in the neighboring Whately, Deerfield and Conway elementary schools and the Frontier Regional School.

Sunderland would contribute $5,991.

On Tuesday, the committee held a public hearing and took a vote on the budget proposed by Superintendent Regina Nash.

The budget now goes before the annual town meeting for a vote.
