Letter: Our youth, our future
I wanted to give a shoutout to the young people of today. I realize that lately, some of them have performed some really tragic, awful acts, but I’d like to point out that it’s only one youth here, and one youth there, etc.
After reading one of these horrible stories recently, I then read in another paper how 40,000 young people of all races and creeds had gathered from all over the world for a five-day ecumenical Taize retreat. Then I saw in a magazine how in Argentina, over a hundred youth had lined up in front of a church to prevent it from being vandalized. They were spray painted, spit on, and verbally insulted. Closer to home, how many young people and children started relief efforts after Superstorm Sandy.
The devil loves to use discouragement and despair to drag us down. Let’s remember that, even though it sometimes feels that the world is “going to hell in a handbasket,” the youth of the world are pulling it “back from the brink.” THANK YOU young people, and God bless you.
