Greenfield High School’s Zach Bartak has earned yet another honor for his outstanding football season by being named to the Super 26 All-State football team by the Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association.

“He’s well deserving of it,” said Green Wave head coach Mike Kuchieski. “He’s worked hard at it, and he had a lot of teammates who helped him along the way.”

Bartak, one of three quarterbacks selected, has already won the prestigious Norman S. Dagenais Award as the Most Outstanding Football Player in Western Massachusetts. He’s also a finalist for The Recorder Intercounty League Most Valuable Player award, which will be announced on Jan. 13 at the IL’s annual banquet at the Greenfield Elks Lodge.

The 6-foot, 200-pound senior threw for 1,427 yards and 17 touchdowns, while rushing for 1,108 yards and 14 scores, leading the Green Wave to an 8-3 record and a WMass Division III playoff berth.

Bartak, a two-sport standout, has been weighing his college options in football after being contacted by several New England schools at the Division II and III levels.

To be named to the Super 26 All-State team, players must first be nominated by their head coaches. More than 100 nominations were received this year from coaches across the state.

Bartak and the rest of the team will be honored on March 2 at The Lantana restaurant in Randolph. The banquet is sponsored by the MHSFCA and the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston.
