Tech strikes gold at its own Holiday Bash

Franklin County Technical School won a pair of gold medals and added a silver medal on Saturday as it welcomed 16 schools from around New England for the second annual Eagles’ Holiday Bash Wrestling Tournament in Turners Falls.
Teams from Massachusetts, Vermont and Rhode Island made the trip to Turners Falls for the tournament and the host school placed fifth overall. Tech’s David Weed pinned Jordan Paull from Minnechaug Regional High School in 1 minute, 7 seconds to take home gold at 138 pounds, while teammate Kyle Laffey earned a 13-4 major decision over top-seeded Kyle McQuaide of Chelmsford High School to win gold at 152 pounds.
Josh Lacosse dropped an 8-6 decision to Alex D’Aloisio from Lincoln (R.I.) High School in the championship bout at 120 pounds to earn a silver medal.
Agawam 4, Turners Falls 0 — Agawam High School scored three times in the second period to knock off Turners Falls High School, 4-0, in an independent hockey game Saturday night at Collins-Moylan Arena in Greenfield.
Seamus Curran, Corey Jenks and Anthony Cichetti each struck for goals in the second period to help Agawam remain unbeaten on the season at 4-0. Billy Wysocki added another marker in the third period to seal the game, and Anthony Ascioti stopped all 17 shots he faced to register the shutout for the Brownies.
Will Miller finished with 34 saves in the Indians’ net as Turners fell to 3-2-1 on the season.
