Letter: Jaywalking dangerous
Jaywalking is a dangerous sport, especially at night when crossing streets, one could/should look both ways. It is difficult for motorists to see people in the road. Drivers look at speed signs, traffic lights, other vehicles, bicycles, motorcycles, the lines in the road, and all at the same time. People can wear whatever they wish. Bright or luminous attire is more visible.
Maybe the pedestrian has the right of way, but motorists need a little warning. When he/she looks back and the car following is tailgating, one cannot jam on the brakes. Motorists who follow too close are not helping the situation.
Why do towns, cities, states, countries paint crosswalks bright white for pedestrians? These sites are chosen for greater visibility to the cars, and the people.
