Work bee at new Northfield EMS station Sunday

NORTHFIELD — The town’s ambulance service will soon move into its new station, but not before the place is spruced up a bit.

The EMS department is looking to the community to pitch in and keep costs low.

“We’re having a work bee Sunday at 9 a.m.,” said EMS Chief Mark Fortier.

Fortier said he’s already received calls from several local businesses and residents to offer their help.

The new EMS headquarters is located in the former Sunoco station at 41 Main St. At first, said Fortier, efforts will focus on cleaning up the property and making it look presentable.

Property owner A.R. Sandri Co. gave Fortier the keys this week, and has cleared its things out of the building.

If you’d like to help, but can’t make it Sunday, you can call Fortier at 413 498-4540, or email him at
