I-91 accident not as bad as it looked
BERNARDSTON — A Friday morning single-car accident on Interstate 91 wrecked a Connecticut man’s pickup and earned him a ticket, but left him otherwise unscathed.
At about 11:45 a.m., David Chevrette’s Ford F-350 pickup hydroplaned in the northbound lane of the highway, and went off the left side of the road and into a tree, said state police trooper Benjamin Therrien.
“It looked pretty bad, the rear end of his truck was pretty smashed up, but he was able to walk away from it,” said Therrien.
He said Chevrette, 48, of Plainville, Conn., was cited for using speed greater than reasonable for conditions. At the time of the accident, it was raining and the pavement was wet.
Therrien said the left lane of the highway was closed for about five minutes while the pickup was loaded onto a tow truck.
