Athol 9, Mahar 0 — Brad Bousquet scored four goals and assisted on a fifth as Athol High School trounced Mahar Regional School, 9-0, in an independent boys’ soccer game Monday afternoon in Athol.

Bousquet helped get the Red Raiders offense rolling 5:21 into the game when he fed a pass across the front of the Mahar net that was volleyed home by Joe Doyle. Three minutes later, Tyler Guerin took a free kick from near midfield and fed a ball over the top of the Mahar defense that was trying to play a trap, and Bousquet ran behind the line and headed it past Mahar goalie Matt Simmington for a 2-0 lead. Bousquet struck again two minutes later, this time when Athol goalie Garrett Hall played a ball upfield that was flicked on by Randy Favreau before Bousquet ran onto it and scored past Simmington.

The Red Raiders added two more goals before the half was up. Zach Dodge fired a ball home from 30 yards out in the 26th minute, and Tyler Lajoie scored his first career varsity goal with 12 minutes, 37 seconds left in the half on an assist from Beau Guimond.
