Anti-war vigil today on Greenfield Town Common

GREENFIELD — An 11 a.m. vigil planned for the Greenfield Town Common today will be part of a series of demonstrations around the Pioneer Valley this weekend to mark the 10th anniversary of the war in Afghanistan.
A simultaneous vigil will also be held at Northampton’s main intersection on Saturday, with a Sunday noontime vigil at the Amherst Town Common to mark the anniversary of the start of the war that has caused 2,125 American military deaths, more than 13,000 Afghan civilian deaths, according to the United Nations and a $1.2 trillion price tag, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
